Online retailer, Fashion4Home.com, has come up with an ingenious way to sell their high-end designer furniture. The not-so-hot online furniture market meant that the founders had to seek out an opportunity for them to engage consumers.

The key was to tap into the social power of having a website that produced furniture designs you wouldn’t find elsewhere. With 80 models of contemporary furniture currently being sold on the site, the founders thought of an interesting way to bring about new designs.

They included a section which lets visitors examine new designs in progress and then ‘Vote’ for them to be moved into the production process. Users are encouraged to leave comments and designers can also join in the conversation as well.

Once an item has moved out of the design phase, customers may continue to follow the manufacturing and logistics process until they can purchase the item they voted for shortly afterwards. In fact Fashion4Home offer a 10% discount if you choose to buy it.
