Conficker is the latest security threat sweeping the globe after being estimated to have infected 9 million PCs by F-Secure(Antivirus Company).
After some reverse engineering researchers have discovered that Conficker is set to activiate on April Fools day and it won't be a treat. The Conficker worm will begin to disable all security systems including blocking security websites like Microsoft and blocking updates to your computer. It copies itself into Windows NT, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and Movie Maker directories. Conficker will also delete your restore points and begin downloading files to your computer which will allow it to set "read only", "hidden" and "system file" attributes. The threat of infection and activity on your PC through the Conficker worm runs even deeper than this. An indication that you have this threat will be when your computer begins to automatically access sites like Facebook, Google, Imageshack.us and other popular websites.
To protect your computer from the Conficker Worm, you can use the Conficker Removal Tool created by Enigma Software Group. The tool is free and they provide a demonstration in the video below.
