Eliciting Emotion with Hollywood coach Michael HaugeFor this week’s episode of Getting Goosebumps, I had the chance to chat to storytelling legend Michael Hauge. Michael’s worked in Hollywood for over 35 years, coaching top screenwriters, producers, and directors for an array of of exciting projects, including films I Am Legend and Masters Of The Universe – so, it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about transforming stories into success!

Whether it’s marketers, writers or attorneys, Michael knows how to rework the core principles of story to suit the storyteller.

Eliciting emotion

Great storytellers know the ultimate goal is to elicit emotion from the target audience. Michael has an array of insight and experience into successfully provoking emotional involvement. He explains how to make someone feel something about your story, and encourage them into action.

The character journey

A great story isn’t complete without believable, relatable characters that your audience can really root for.

Michael shares the detailed steps to building up characters and truly making your audience feel as though they’re part of the story themselves.

Marketing your stories

So, how do we actually use stories to sell? Michael reveals his knowledge on taking the potential buyer through an emotional experience, including the obstacles and steps to overcome them.
